Frankfurt Motor Show 2017: What To Expect!
At the Frankfurt Motor Show 2017, Electric cars and self-driving technology are being considered as the major focus. The event will start next week as automakers are increasingly looking forward to launching their piece of motor geniuses, containing crossovers, SUVs and many other vehicles. A lot of vehicles are in demand, with high-riding vehicle grabbing a major slice of the booming market.
Furthermore, there will be world debuts for Chinese brands, including Great Wall, a suitor for Jeep and Chery Automobile as they look to expand their sights on expanding beyond their usual territories!
However, not all companies are coming to the Frankfurt Motor Show 2017, with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Volvo Cars, Nissan Motor Co., and Mitsubishi Motors deciding to skip the show.
The Frankfurt Motor Show 2017 press days are September 12 and 13. Here are some of the vehicles one should expect to see.

Let’s look at it from car maker point of view!
Audi will be showcasing its advanced autonomous driving technology in the company’s next-generation A7 and A8 sedans. The A8 has been shown to journalists in July itself and is known to have a large 48-volt battery as well as level 3 autonomy. This allows some amount of hands-free driving at low speeds.
The A7, on the other hand, hasn’t been revealed yet and is expected to have the same system.
Bentley’s Continental GT made a move to the Porsche-developed MSB platform from the previous platform. The car has gotten lighter, more aggressively styled as well as more powerful. The car has a 6.0-liter turbocharged W-12 engine which produces 626 horsepower, as compared to 582 horsepower earlier.
BMW X7 is expected to make its debut in concept form. The X7 is supposed to bring in the heat for BMW’s competitors since the automaker previously didn’t have its own seven-seat crossover. The concept is supposed to be a preview of the production model that’ll make its way to BMW’s factory in S.C., starting next year.
BMW’s latest X3 will make its debut with the new generation being lighter, more powerful and efficient along with better driving dynamics and handling, according to BMW.
X3 has also been given an M-badged performance variant this time, that’s equipped with a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that produces 355 horsepower. Both fully electric and plug-in variants of the car will come too.
An all new BMW M5 will be seen increasing the pride of BMW this year at the BMW’s stand. BMW has furthered the car’s abilities by adding a four-wheel drive to the high-performance sedan for the first time. The car’s 4.4-liter V8 engine has been rehauled as well, with it reaching 500 horsepower now!
BMW will also present electrified 3 series.
BMW’s other debuts include Z8 and Z4 series, the 6 series Gran Turismo as well as a sportier version of the i3.
A German brand, Borgward, went out of business in 1962 and was revived recently by the Chinese Heavy-truck maker Foto. The company is expected to reveal a sports car variant. The company expects to begin sales in Europe by 2019.
China’s Chery Automobile is working to debut its SUV concept, that’s known internally as M31T. The company expects the vehicle to lead its expansion across the U.S. and European markets in the next few years. Chery showcases a new design language that’s been aimed at “young, urban customers that choose high quality, sophisticated products”.
Ferrari’s Portofino is going to replace the Ferrari California T as the brand’s entry-level car. The hard-top convertible has been powered by a V8 engine that has a total of 592 horsepower, a difference of 39 horsepower over California T. With a top speed of 321 km/h and 0-100 kmph time of 3.6 seconds, Portofino surely is an upgrade from the California.
Great Wall Motor is the China’s largest maker of SUVs as well as crossovers. It will be present at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2017 to showcase its new upscale Wey brand.
The VV7 crossover, company’s first Wey-badged vehicle went on sale went on sale in April. However, the company hasn’t released which vehicle it will be putting up on display at the Motor show.
The Kona is Hyundai’s late entry into the ever flourishing sub compact crossover segment and will arrive next year in the U.S. Hyundai Kona crossover has been built on the same platform as Kia Stonic and Hyundai Accent, which will also be making the debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2017.
Hyundai i30 N will be showcased at the event as well.
The Jaguar E-Pace will expand Jaguar’s crossover lineup, taking it to two vehicles. It is expected that the performance oriented E-Pace compact model will be sold by same numbers as its larger F-Pace variant. The E-Pace is supposed to go on sale from 2018 January.
The company will also unveil XF Sportsbrake model.
The Kia Stonic and Hyundai Kona share many parts due to a common platform. The subcompact crossover has a low center of gravity and a sweeping roofline. The car will be showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2017!
The showstopper at the Frankfurt motor show 2017 will be the AMG Project One, a midengine hypercar. It will use F1 based 1.6-liter V6 engine that’s assisted by four electric motors for producing mind whopping 1,035 horsepower. There will only be 275 units of the car produced.
Mercedes will also showcase its upcoming EQ subbrand for electric cars with its EQ-A concept that has the styling cues for the company’s next-generation A-class compact car. Mercedes plans to develop around 10 long-range electric vehicles by the year 2025 in a bid to reach the position of a global leader in EV technology.
The auto brand’s first pickup, the X class, will get its first auto show outing in the form of Frankfurt Motor Show 2017 as well. The X class has been based on the Nissan’s Navara NP300 platform. Mercedes expects sales to come from South Africa, Latin America, and Europe for now.
Another Mercedes debut will be its GLC crossover, that’s been equipped with a plug-in fuel-cell powertrain.
The Mini Electric Concept shows a battery-powered model, which will launch in the year 2019. The car is based on the Mini three-door. The car will be based on the Mini three-door.
