10 Hacks For Organizing and Cleaning Your Vehicle
Keeping a car clean at all times feels such a tedious and tasking job, especially when you have a long day to look forward to, or when the weather is bad, and so on. Imagine cleaning up the car and then starts rain, or someone throws something on the car’s surface.
Not only can it feel tiresome but also unnecessary as well, but is it?
Keeping the vehicle clean is important, not only aesthetically but also because the dirtier the vehicle, the greater the chance of it corroding or any other issue creeping up. Additionally, some cities, like Abu Dhabi have started impounding cars or fining car owners over cars that are dirty, leading to spoiling the aesthetic image of the Emirate.
And while we hope that this doesn’t become the norm everywhere, it is never too late to start with cleaning your vehicle and more importantly, keeping it clean over time.
Some people have a habit of cleaning the vehicle daily, while others do it weekly, monthly and so on depending upon their usage and climate. But no matter when a person washes, or how deep the cleaning process is if some shortcuts are made use of, the whole process gets easier.
Check out these ten cleaning hacks for keeping the car organized and clean while saving your time.
Cleaning the Windshield by Using Club Soda
Club Soda makes sure that the food or beverages you make have just the right amount of fizz in them. It has a lot of benefits that include stain removal from clothing and so on, and now, it will also help a person clean their windshield.
There are two ways to use it, either spray the club soda over your windshield using a spray bottle or directly pour it on the windshield. This will cause the stuck grime and small bugs sticking on it to break away.
Just spray or pour the club soda for 15-30 seconds and then proceed to wipe it with either paper towels or microfiber cloth. This causes the broken up residue to be removed quickly.
In the case of stubborn matter that doesn’t get cleaned even after this, use a dish net scrubber for safely scrubbing the dirt off the windshield, after letting the scrubber soak in club soda.
Using a Plastic Container as a Garbage Can
Since a lot of times people eat or drink in the car, a reusable plastic container can be utilized as a portable garbage can inside the car so that one doesn’t have to deal with wrappers, etc. all the time. Most of the plastic containers are compact in shape, thus not taking in a lot of space and fulfilling their need.
Additionally, put a plastic grocery bag in the cereal container, and fold the edges over the sides. Every time any thing needs to be disposed of, such as a receipt, coffee cup, and so on, they can be put into the container.
When the container is full, the bag can be taken and thrown away. This will help segregate waste and keep the car’s interior free of dirt or particles/food crumbs that wedge between various nooks and corners due to lack of disposal in the car.
Cleaning the Dash Vents by the Help of Small Foam Brush
The tiny louvers on the dashboard (AC vents etc.) are a perfect place for the dust to accumulate any time. And since they are at the very front of the car’s interiors, they are obvious to anyone. Thus, cleaning the louvers every few days is a necessary task and can be done to clean the accumulated the dust.
The foam paint brushes can get in the tight little spaces and clean the dust without leaving a scratch on any part.
In the absence of foam brush, any soft bristle brush will do well to clear out the dust. However, they won’t be able to trap the dust as good as a foam brush can.
Removing Odours on the Carpet by Using Baking Soda
One time or other, a person is bound to spill something inside the vehicle. The chance of this especially increases if there is a kid present in the car.
Any liquid, such as cold drink, milk, juice and so on when spilled can start rotting and eventually create a foul smell. The foul smell can cause the overall driving experience to be bad.
To deal with this, make use of Baking soda, which can be found pretty easily in the kitchen. Cover the affected area using baking soda and using a brush with hard bristles, rub for a while. After that, let it sit overnight and finally vacuum the rubbed spot next day.
The smell would have been completely gone or reduced effectively.
This process can be repeated in case the smell hasn’t yet gone. This particular method will work over the musty smell as well.
Cleaning the Car’s Chrome with Soft Drink
Cola can be of a lot of help for anyone with a car. It not only helps with removing the corrosion from the battery terminals but also helps clean the car’s chrome.
For cleaning the car’s chrome areas, pour a reasonable amount of soft drink such as Pepsi etc. over the car’s chrome pieces, like the grille, running boards, emblems, and wheels. After pouring, let the cola sit on the area and keep it like that for 5-10 minutes.
After the time, rinse the area with clean water. The cola would have removed the corrosion as well as any discoloration on the chrome and left it clean and shiny. However, properly wash the car after it so that it doesn’t end up sticky due to sweeteners present in Cola.
Organizing The Car Interior By Using a Remote Control Organizer
For people who are used to driving for extended lengths in their car, this can come in handy. TV remote organizer can be used to keep track of small stuff in the car and can be hung behind a seat or on the side of the console so that all items that are needed can be put within reach.
Whether it is a phone charger, tissue or anything like that, all these can be kept easily and organized efficiently for use so that it’s not a hassle to keep track of them.
Cleaning Crevices with the Help of a Screwdriver
There are so many nooks and corners within the vehicle that it is hard to keep track of all the small particles. A lot of particles find their way into the particles.
Although the best way to clear it up is by using compressed air to blow all the particles but if that isn’t possible, then a screw driver can be used too. For that, a flat screwdriver can be applied with a cloth over the tip of the screwdriver for clearing out the crevices.
For further cleaning, wet a cloth with a cleaner or water before wiping the crevices.
Using the Backseat Hammock for Keeping Pets
One of the easiest parts of making cleaning easier is if the mess can be prevented in the first place. While taking dogs along, use a pet hammock for the backseat. The benefit of it is that it will keep the pets contained in the car’s rear seats and is helpful in collecting hair, dirt and paw prints so that they don’t spoil the upholstery.
Or, in case a pet hammock isn’t there, a person can make use of a dog carpet and spread it over the back seat so that everything is contained.
Lining the Cup Holders to Clean the Car Easily
Spilling is always possible, and cleaning the confined spaces is not necessarily an easy task. To help with this, a person can line the cup holder with silicone cupcake liners. These liners have the necessary flexibility of fitting inside the cup holder and can catch whatever that may spill.
When needed to clean the car, then clean the silicone cupcake liner and reuse them.
Waxing the Car Paint
Waxing the car beforehand will save a lot of time later on while cleaning the car. Using minor investment in the form of car wax, the car wash can be made simpler and less tedious.
The benefit of a waxed car finish is that it will avoid dirt from sticking to the car’s exterior much, thus keeping the car cleaner for a longer extent. When the car gets dirty, the dirt will easily come off the waxed car surface as compared to without it.
Even if a person uses some of these hacks, they’ll be able to notice a difference in how easy the whole cleaning process can get.
