Welcoming the All New Nissan Leaf 2018 Edition
Nissan has revealed the second generation Leaf EV, Nissan Leaf 2018 Edition, just before the model’s public premiere next week. The car will be available for buying starting early 2018 in more than 60 markets around the world.
Since its introduction in 2010, the Nissan Leaf 2018 has been one of the best -selling non-premium EV worldwide, and hence, when it came to making a new model, the focus was on increasing driver assistance technologies and improved range.
If styling is concerned, the 2018 Leaf has been inspired by the IDS concept car, which was first seen at the Tokyo Motor Show of 2015. The styling includes projector beam headlights, a trendy floating roof over a contrasting C-Pillar, and Nissan’s signature V-Motion grille.
The upcoming variant is wider as well as longer than the outgoing Leaf and designers have been emphasizing the lower center of gravity in the new car.
For the car’s interior, the focus landed on a simple layout, which has been highlighted blue, illuminated shift knob as well as a flush-fit central display. Nissan has also worked to make the cabin quieter by improving the aerodynamics and the car’s lower drag coefficient.
For improving the car’s handling, engineers moved the heaviest component of the car, the battery to the middle of the vehicle and made the suspension more stiff by 10 percent.
The car’s autonomous features have been improved as well with semi-autonomous driving capability at even speeds of up to 100km/h.
Nissan also has a lot riding on its e-pedal feature. The feature involves using one-foot pedal that lets a person go and stop using one-foot pedal instead of two like in any other automatic transmission car.
The Japanese carmaker has improved the car’s powertrain, the most and now offer much more efficiency for generating more power, taking the total to 147 horsepower and 320 Nm Torque.
Although, despite the increase in acceleration and speed, the latest car still manages to drive 240 km in one go, which is again an improvement.
