Volkswagen Arteon Fastback To Compete With BMW & Mercedes-Benz
Volkswagen has unveiled the new Arteon Fastback in a move to woo customers and increase its sales. Faced with growing competition from BMW 4 Series and Mercedes-Benz etc. The new car is a flagship model and will go on sale next month.
According to VW, cars of this stature have been the territory of premium carmaker, and with Arteon, VW is hopeful of entry within the same category.
The four-door car will help the automaker in the development of funds for the strategic shift along the lines of electric and self-driving cars. Ever since the company has found itself entangled in the emissions scandal; it has been looking for higher margin models to recover.
The VW Arteon features adaptive cruise control, enhanced emergency braking, and steering functions. The appearance of the car resembles Audi A5 Sportback and has borrowed features like the extended hood, lowered roofline and long wheelbase.
The company has aimed for selling around 40,000 Arteons in a year across the globe; with plans for upscaling the total number to 81,172 cars by 2025.
Because of the car’s introduction, the sales for BMW’s 4-Series Gran Coupe will take a plunge of 16 percent; while the sales of the Mercedes CLS will be altered by 10 percent as well by the year 2025.
The car will have a price tag of $ 39,111.
