Toyota GR Series Unveiled in Japan
Japanese Automaker, Toyota Motor Corp. will introduce its high-performance series, the Toyota GR Series that’ll consist of superior vehicles as the company looks to put in, even more, efforts for giving its image a new jazzed up overhaul.
Toyota GR series made the debut in Japan along with its seven variants that include the Vitz subcompact and the Prius Plug-in Hybrid. The series was unveiled at an event on Tuesday in Tokyo.
Toyota hopes to expand its lineup by the end of 2017 and will expand the total number of countries where it sells its vehicles.
President of Toyota, Akio Toyoda is working on reinvigorating the Lexus and Toyota brands ever since he lamented that customers were perceiving the vehicles to be rather boring to drive despite being well made.
These initiatives have garnered pace in the recent time with the LC500 coupe’s debut last year by Lexus. This was followed by the Camry getting a complete redesign in January, with Toyota going ahead and labelling it as ‘sexy’.
Toyota has established GAZOOO Racing, after which its Toyota GR Series is based to be an in-house company for overseeing the planning, design and production of sports car. The unit has been given a separate budget along with a team of engineers and designers.
