Tesla Shifts from Nvidia to Intel for Infotainment Screens
The infotainment screens in Tesla Inc. cars are to be powered by the new components from the Intel Corp. This change was brought on forward as Tesla shifts from Nvidia, its chip supplier, to Intel according to people familiar with the plans.
Newer versions of the car along with Tesla’s Model 3 will be getting the latest processing modules of Intel. Both, Intel and Nvidia have declined to comment on the development. Also, Tesla hasn’t responded immediately to any request for comments.
The world’s largest chipmaker, Intel is working on lowering the dependence on personal computers by persuading various car makers about using its powerful processors, which make the vehicles more capable of taking decisions for themselves.
Although, Tesla is still a smaller automaker, since its total sales last year was of just over 76,000 vehicles, even though it’s been at the forefront of bringing the latest technology to the market.
