SUVs That Stole the Limelight At 2017 Shanghai Auto Show
People have been increasingly moving towards the use of SUVs. And this has only lead to automakers willing to make innovations to keep at the top of their game in the SUV market. Every year in the various auto shows, multiple SUVs or prototypes are shown that leave us wanting for more. This year too, at the 2017 Shanghai auto show, multiple SUVs were shown that won the heart of people. Here are some of these majestic vehicles that brought the glam and glitz to the show this year.
Citroen C5 Aircross
Citroen, a major French automobile maker which is usually known for its hatchback divisions has unleashed their most powerful vehicle yet. The C5 Aircross unveiled at the Shanghai auto show is a plug-in hybrid which combines a petrol engine with two electric motors that give a combined power of about 300 bhp. It’ll also feature an all-wheel drive.
Nio’s second model and its first in the mass market segment, the ES8 has been unveiled at the auto show. Powered by two electric motors, one for the front axle and one for the rear, this seven-seater SUV is a beauty. It also has an option of swappable battery pack just in case there is no time to charge. The price of this SUV is expected to be around £1,150,000.
Lynk & Co 01
Lynk & Co, the global division of Chinese car manufacturer Geely, has revealed its luxury compact crossover 01. The SUV which is production ready with a 1.5 litre 3 cylinder engine and 4 cylinder engine powering it. The company also plans to produce a hybrid and EV model in the time to come. Since Geely owns the global giant Volvo, this car shares some similarity with XC40. It has also been called as most connected SUV being on a tech-heavy side. The car has been designed in Sweden.
Vauxhall Grandland X
One of the oldest automakers, Vauxhall unveiled the Grandland X and its many variants that are based on the Peugeot 3008. A compact 5 seater, will come with a 3 cylinder 1.0-litre engine in the most basic variant while mid-range variant will have either 1.4-litre petrol or 1.6-litre diesel engine with 109 horsepower. The SUV carries the OnStar system of Vauxhall.
Honda CR-V Hybrid
Honda unveiled the CR-V hybrid version which is powered by a two-motor hybrid system, the same system that powers Honda Accord Hybrid. The 2.0-litre hybrid is presented with an all wheel drive and Honda hopes to target other potential markets after China it starts successfuly selling it in China. The SUV also has a good fuel efficiency.
