Renault Megane RS to Feature in 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show
Renault has given out further information regarding their all-new next-gen hatchback, the Megane RS that will be revealed to the public soon. The car will have a four-wheel steering and will provide two different chassis setups as a choice.
Although the engine details haven’t come out yet, some rumors suggest that the car will have the 1.8-liter engine from the Alpine A110 Sports car instead of the current 2.0-liter engine. The car’s engine produces 249 horsepower and 320 Nm torque in the Alpine, but there are hopes that it will be tuned further for the Megane. Renault had earlier confirmed that the Megane RS would have 300 horsepower approximately.
As per the spy shots shows by the company, the new Megane RS shares similar looks to the current Megane GT, although some modifications have been made. The use of daylight running lamps in the lower bumper, lowered suspension, and beefier brakes are evidently visible.
The car features the 4CONTROL four-wheel steering system to improve the car’s agility. Since the hatchback is a part of Renaultsport, the buyers will be able to opt for a regular Sports Chassis and track-bred Cup chassis. The car will have a six-speed manual transmission in some markets, although normally, an EDC dual-clutch automatic gearbox will be provided. The Megane RS will only be an FWD.
The 2018 Renault Megane RS will be revealed publicly during the upcoming 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
