Porsche Produces Yet Another Masterpiece for 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series
When Porsche’s 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series was launched, it did raise the eyebrows around the world. The car has been given a boost of around 30 horsepower, taking the total of 607 Horsepower, with boosted torque, and a Golden Yellow Metallic paint that sure give it a pleasant feel altogether.
The units of the car have been limited to just 500 worldwide. For the GCC region, the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series has a price tag of AED 880,900.
Porsche has now gone above and beyond and released a new exclusive option for the Exclusive Series, which comes in the shape of 20-inch carbon fibre wheels costing a mind-blowing AED 65,000 a set. This has led to Porsche becoming the first automaker that offers braided carbon fibre wheels.
The wheels are lightweight, in the sense that they save 8.5 kg over the standard alloy wheels, a reduction of around 20 percent while giving an increase of 20 percent in the strength. All this makes a difference as the lower rotating masses provide the vehicle better accelerating, braking and handling.
These Carbon Fibre wheels are essentially made up of two main parts, with each wheel featuring a centre made up of Carbon Fibre fabric that is assembled from up to 200 individual components. The rim is made of braided carbon fibre, a technique famously used by Lexus for LFA braided roof pillars.
Porsche is supposed to have needed the largest carbon fibre braiding machine worldwide, which measures overall nine metres across. The company has said that this complex technique uses lesser material yet makes stronger carbon fibre parts that have a higher density. Each of these wheels is made up of a total of 18 km of thin, woven carbon fibre.
The new set of wheels will be made available for the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series from the beginning of next year as an option.
