Porsche Installs Ultra Fast Charger Leaving Tesla on Back-burner
With a lot of anticipated demand for Electric cars in the future market, companies have already put pressure on their design teams to come up with something that stands out as a mark for themselves.
Porsche is also one of them and is known for its design and concept. The company knows that the automobile future will involve the electric vehicles, and hence, to make this future certain, the company has taken a big step.
A new office has sprung up in Berlin with two ultra-fast volt chargers of 800-megawatt capacity being installed. The chargers have the potential to easily charge existing EVs at 30kW faster rate than the capacity of Tesla Supercharger (120kW). For future cars, the charger will be able to charge at up to 350kW.
Mission E, Porsche’s upcoming model will be able to charge to 80 percent in mere 15 minutes. Although the time is more as compared to time spent at a gas station, it is quick enough that a person won’t have to plan the trip around the EV charger routes.
The development doesn’t end here as the Porsche’s American headquarters in Atlanta is under construction too, so as to build another high-speed charging station. With other plans in the pipeline, installations are expected to ramp up before the new Mission E arrives.
To make the future EV models charging easy, Porsche has partnered with other car companies across Europe to install more 350kW capable charging stations.
The company is laying the groundwork for a future in which a person will rarely think about the charging station locations to charge an EV.
