Midsize QX70 Dropped by Infiniti
Infiniti has decided to axe the QX70 midsize crossover, in a move that will be effective immediately. This comes amidst the company’s plan to shift further attention around other crossovers.
All the dealers of Infiniti have been notified ahead of time about the axing of the Infiniti QX70, which was earlier known as the Infiniti FX. The car won’t be offered from the 2018 model year, which has been confirmed by a spokesman.
Infiniti is working on its new crossover and hopes to entice the customers through its redesigned QX50 compact crossover. The company hopes that the redesigned car will play a dominant role in the rapidly changing market over the next two or three years.
As per some outside sources, Infiniti is looking to steer the customer attention and marketing towards the new QX50 that is being touted as having enough potential for being the brand’s top-seller.
Although, Infiniti wishes to come back in the segment later and is planning to produce a V6 powered five-seater that has a distinctive rear-sloping back end. The replacement crossover will likely arrive in the year 2021 or 2022 and will be based on the Nissan Murano.
When it first appeared in 2003 as the FX, The QX70 seemed to be a bold design statement. But for now, it is wedged between SUV and crossover, which have gained a lot of popularity.
On the other hand, the larger QX80 is scheduled to receive a svelte new design in the coming years.
