Mercedes-Benz Launches Support For Google Assistant
If you have 2016/2017 Mercedes-Benz models, you can use your Google or Amazon’s in-home digital assistants to help you with handling some car-related tasks, for example, you can use the assistant to look for addresses remotely and send it to the navigation system of the vehicle or to lock the car remotely.
Mercedes hopes that in the long term, Mercedes owners will be able to achieve better and more with added functionality through the Mercedes in-house digital assistant that is being built by the company researchers. The researchers are working on what should be controlled by voice commands and how to add the features by using business intelligence and self-learning capabilities.
Mercedes’ move has put it in line with Ford, Volkswagen, BMW, and Nissan who have developed plans to use voice-based assistants within their car.
Mercedes launched the part one of its latest offerings in the last week of April by providing the customers’ usage of Google and Amazon assistants along with Mercedes Me accounts. Mercedes Me is a bundle of services and products provided by Mercedes which offers access from the smartphone app to the cars.
In part two that is scheduled for later this year will come with added functionalities like trip planning guidance and customer assistance. Another option that is being considered is the coordination of owner’s electronic calendar to generate reminders.
The service will be launched first in the United States since US customers usually start using such features early on. After the US, the service will be launched in Europe and Asia.
