MECOTY 2017 Double Awards Win For Toyota
Toyota, one of the largest automobile producer has again won the middle east’s automobile sector’s most prestigious awards. The Middle East Car of the Year(MECOTY) awards for the year 2017 have been awarded to the automaker.
The decision makers for the awards consisted of 15 independent journalists from various leading automotive publications from the Middle Eastern and North African region. In the special category, Toyota Prius won the “Future of Motoring” award and the Toyota Fortuner bagged the “Best Midsize SUV” award.
Toyota Motor Corporation’s chief representative, Takayuki Yoshitsugu said: “The loyalty and the support of our customers is what drives and fuels our passion in creating automotive excellence. I express my sincere thanks and appreciation to our valuable customers around the region who have put their faith in Toyota year after year. They serve as an inspiration for us to improve and create ever-better cars.”
With a vision to reduce the effects that the increasingly high numbers of automobiles have been causing on the environment, Toyota has been actively working on the mass market adoption of its hybrid vehicles throughout the globe.
After the launch of Prius in December 1997, Toyota’s hybrid vehicles has received a lot of support from their happy consumers around the world. The Prius which works in an innovative fashion with the usage of two power sources, the electric motor and petrol engine. Because of the blend it creates, the car delivers exceptional performance while delivering zero emissions. What is also innovative is that there is no need to worry about charging the car’s hybrid battery, the car will automatically charge it by using the petrol engine or when it brakes and decelerates.
