Lynk & CO’s 01 Crossover to Reach US Shores in 2019
Lynk & CO, a part of the Geely Holding Group umbrella, will be making its U.S debut in 2019 and will experiment with mobility, sales and technology models.
The lineup is likely to kick off with the Lynk & CO 01 crossover, which shares the platform with Volvo’s 40 series vehicles. Post that, 03 sedan will follow at the end of 2019, with Lynk & CO’s 02 following it in a couple of months. The 02 is expected to be a coupe version of the 01 Crossover.
Lynk & CO’s CEO Alain Visser expressed that brand will be directly selling the vehicles to the customers and will also be offering renting and shared ownership services. The vehicles are expected to rely heavily on the wireless connectivity and will be given access to Internet and Lynk’s cloud network. Furthermore, the owners will be able to manage and unlock the vehicles through its smartphone app.
Lynk will initially launch 01 Crossover in China in November and the market from China is being expected to be of around 500,000 vehicles in anticipated global sales by 2021. The other half should come from European and US markets.
01: Lynk & CO showcased the 01 crossover’s production model at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show in April. Expected US sales are to begin in 2019.
03: At the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show, a concept for the sedan was presented and is likely to make it to the customers at the 2019’s end.
02: Lynk & CO is yet to release a concept for the lineup’s third member, although it is being expected as a sportier and shorter version of the 01.
