Geely Plans Lotus Growth on the Same Scale as Porsche
The new Chinese owner of the struggling UK sports car maker Lotus has reckoned that the Porsche’s successful range expansion about getting into crossovers as well as other models can serve as an inspiration and template. Now, Geely plans Lotus growth on a similar scale to Porsche.
Geely, who also owns Volvo, has signed a deal for buying a majority stake in the Lotus who was previously owned by the Malaysian company, DRB-Hicom. The deal was signed in June and helped secure the company’s future.
Now, Geely is thinking about how to achieve success with Lotus and turn the company into a money spinner.
It’s being speculated that Lotus can easily expand for producing any number and size of cars without losing focus from the brand’s original image of lightweight, compact as well as agile cars.
