Ford’s 2018 Model of F-150 Police Responder to be out in 2018
Ford Motor Co. seeks to expand its dominance in the police vehicle market share.
Ford’s latest vehicle, 2018 F-150 police responder will produce 375 horsepower from its 3.5-liter Ecoboost engine that has been paired with a 10-speed transmission. The pickup truck will be able to reach a top speed of 160 km/h. The vehicle has a superior towing capacity of 3,200 kg along with 132 cubic feet of interior space, which is much more than any other police vehicle.
The five-seater pickup will join the Taurus-based Police Interceptor sedan, Fusion-based Police Responder hybrid the Explorer-based Police Interceptor utility, which was unveiled earlier this year. The carmaker also provides Expedition and F-150 based special service vehicles, non-pursuit-rated Transit-based prison transport vehicles.
The company has said they will be adding another hybrid police vehicle. However, it’s unclear over which vehicle will it be based.
Ford provides around 63 percent of the total U.S. police market and has been in the business of selling vehicles to law enforcement agencies since 1920 when Model T was used.
The newly updated F-150 Police Responder has some increased features such as heavy duty cloth front seats along with slim bolsters and anti stab plates, column shifter, heavy-duty vinyl flooring, and vinyl rear seating.
The 2018 variant of F-150 Police Responder will start selling in the spring of 2018.
