Fisker Inc. EMotion EV’s Booking To Start Soon
Henrik Fisker, the legendary car designer, has released new images of the forthcoming ultra luxury EV, the EMotion. The ultra luxurious EV will have a range of 650 km with a top speed of 260 km/h. The images resemble the rendering released last year and have the designer’s company hoping for a revival of reputation in the electric vehicle market.
EMotion is the second attempt by the Fisker and is preceded by the Fisker Karma, a plug-in hybrid luxury car that was released in the year 2011. The original plans of the maker were to follow up the Fisker Karma will all-electric sedans; which didn’t come through. After initial 1,800 sold units, Fisker had to stop production following the bankruptcy of battery supplier. The manufacturing company, Fisker Automotive, then got sold to Chinese auto parts maker Wanxiang. Now Fisker seems to be working on producing EMotion through his latest venture, Fisker Inc.
The preorders for the ultra luxurious EV will start being taken by the end of June 2017, and the vehicles will be sold through the company’s website or ‘experience centers.’
The range for the vehicle seems to have beaten Tesla for the moment by a considerable amount(160 km difference). According to the company, this is possible due to the EMotion’s advanced high energy density battery pack; patent for which is yet pending. The EV will be charged through Fisker’s “UltraCharger” charging platform that can supposedly provide 160 km range in just nine minutes of charging.
The EMotion is being touted as the car with fully autonomous capabilities. Although, the information regarding the autonomous abilities to be used only on highways or urban environment isn’t known yet. But the details about a LIDAR system, cameras, etc. have been provided.
Even though the car seems promising on the board and the figures look solid; Fisker’s previous record might be offputting for prospective buyers.
