Early Tesla Model 3 to Have Limited Color and Wheel Options
To quickly ramp up the production of Model 3 mass-market EV, Tesla will let the buyers choose between two wheel sizes and two colors. The configuration policy will allow Tesla some room as it figures out how to ramp up the production in order to deliver the car as per the schedule. In an annual meeting of the shareholders, Elon Musk shared this information.
Till now, there have been hundreds of thousands of bookings for the Model 3. The bookings involved prospective buyers putting in a refundable deposit for the $35,000 electric car.
In comparison to Model 3, the Model S(P 90D) has numerous offerings for its buyers; including an optional sunroof, limited self-driving, numerous battery sizes, and various interiors apart from upgrades for the sound system too.
Although Musk said that the owners would get additional choices for customization; it is not yet clear as to when will that happen. Additionally, the Model 3’s initial variants will be provided with two wheel drive only; while the four-wheel drive will come out next year.
Musk’s views and the news he shared was gobbled up easily by the management, who backed the board’s view for five proposals; which also included rejecting a bid regarding the re-election of directors.
Musk also gave a headway into Tesla’s plan for adding two or three new directors in the time to come. The directors are to be from a broad range of industries and backgrounds.
