Tesla Fields 50 EVs in Dubai As Dubai Tesla Taxi
A person can now hail a brand-new Tesla as a Dubai Tesla taxi and then cruise around the Dubai after the Roads and Transport Authority introduced a total of 50 Tesla vehicles into the Dubai Tesla Taxi Fleet.
Dubai Tesla Taxi will be part of the RTA’s limousine fleet with these cars equipped with Tesla’s self-driving platform. This move is a step ahead in the plan of Dubai to be the world’s smartest city by 2025. There’s a plan that further wishes to turn 25 percent of all the journeys in the emirate to EVs by 2030.
Apart from developing self-driven vehicles, Tesla has been one of the world’s leading EV producer and is likely to play a large part in this plan.
A plan for buying 200 Tesla cars for Dubai Tesla Taxi was signed in February 2017, and this consignment is a part of this plan. As per the plan, 75 vehicles are to be supplied in 2018, with a delivery of another 75 slated for 2019. Dubai RTA has also installed 13 high capacity car chargers to keep up with the growing EV population.
Currently, two models of Tesla have been contracted by the Dubai RTA, its SUV Model X and the sedan Model S.
