Dubai Police Releases a Video to Educate Drivers
There is a long list of traffic offences that a person can get out of the blue for not following or failing to remember some basic laws. And while, one fine may not feel like much, but it can slowly rack up in just one journey, causing massive penalties and loss of license along with. Quite a few times these traffic violations aren’t obvious as such.
To give an idea of how the seemingly normal driving behaviour can be wrong, Dubai Police has released a video which shows a family of four driving to a place. The video seems normal, with one exception, the ride ends up costing the family a grand total of AED 4,200 as well as 20 black points.
The video has been made after the new federal traffic regulations came into action across the UAE. The usually not obvious violations are like “Entering a road dangerously” that has a fine of AED 600, and another such law is the “Driving in a way that can endanger people”, which though ambiguous, carries a penalty of 23 black points and AED 2,000 as well as a visit to the impound lot for the car for 60 days.
These mistakes are somehow just common mistakes which people make unknowingly but the overall impact on the whole UAE is something that needs to be changed.
As per the new rules, failure to use children car seats for any children below four years lands a person a fine of AED 400, and the same penalty is charged for allowing children below 10 years for sitting in the front seat.
Additionally being distracted while on the road gets you a fine of four black points and AED800, and not wearing the seatbelt costs you AED400 apart from four black points to boot.
The use of phone and/or swerving carry the price tag of four black points however, the sum to pay will be AED 800 and AED 1200 respectively.
