Dubai Police Adds BMW i3 to its Fleet
Dubai police force which has been at the forefront regarding latest technologies and supercars in its fleet have added another high-tech vehicle to its fleet. In its most recent purchase, Dubai police has added the BMW i3 in its Dubai cop cars fleet.
The BMW i3 has a top speed of around 153 km/h that will put it out of any high-speed chase that the Dubai Police may have to deal with, but then it has Bugatti Veyron and the Porsche 918 to address such cases. The i3 has a fully electric powertrain, making it the most fuel-efficient car in the fleet.
The car sports the same green and white colors of the Dubai Police force. The usage of BMW i3 is in keeping with the vision of UAE to use of at least 10 percent electrical cars as official vehicles by the year 2021. This will also help reduce Carbon Dioxide emissions by up to 15 percent by 2021.
The Dubai police also posted about its latest acquisition in a video that was posted on the Twitter. However, there is no information yet if the plan is to increase the number of electrical police cars in the time to come.
Dubai’s government departments have been working proactively to reach the 2021 plans. Dubai’s transport authority earlier announced a plan to procure 200 electric cars from Tesla to be used for state-run taxi services. Tesla also on its part has been installing charging stations across UAE to help the transition from oil based cars to the electric cars.
