Delphi Automotive Renames its Automated Driving Biz as Aptiv
Delphi Automotive has said that it’ll be renaming its automated driving business for reflecting the focus of the company for keeping up with the future technologies. The new name of the business will be Aptiv.
The automotive supplier had previously announced in the month of May that it wanted to focus mainly on the future technologies. This new electric architecture, as well as autonomous driving, focused biz will come under the APTV header. Although, the powertrain company will continue with the name as Delphi Technologies.
Aptiv is to focus on the nervous system and brain of the vehicles, with the company developing active systems for safety, electrical architecture, necessary software for automated driving and connected services.
Delphi’s CTO, Glen De Vos, has got the similar role at Aptiv and said that the businesses were separated for allowing the supplier to move much faster when it comes to the field of rapidly advancing technologies.
Delphi Automotive is actively working with Continental, Intel, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and BMW on joint development of an automated driving platform. The company’s also working on an end-to-end autonomous platform that’s expected to be launched in 2019.
