Child Car Seats Made Mandatory in Dubai Taxis
In keeping up with the new Federal rules, Dubai Police have made some changes in how the taxi service providers will work in Dubai.
As per the changes, all taxis (RTA, Uber, Careem) will now be required to keep child car seats in the vehicles for any child passenger.
According to the new federal laws that are valid for all Emirates, children under the age of four are to be seated in a child car seat at all times. Earlier, child car seats were recommended but not legally binding, but rules have changed now.
Additionally, seat belts have to be worn at all times by all the passengers in the car. Otherwise, a penalty of AED 400 will be levied per person.
Violators who fail to provide child car seats for the children in the vehicle will now be stopped and advised about children safety. The current focus, for now, seems to be on educating people on the new traffic rules and the requirement of using child car seats in the vehicle. After the awareness stage, the offenders will be fined AED 400.
