Careem Now Allows Users to Mask Phone Numbers
Careem, the ride hailing app has recently launched another customer oriented feature that will enable the customers of the Careem to mask the phone numbers when a ride is booked.
The feature was announced by the company on Tuesday in response to multiple requests and demands from customers. The primary reason for the same seems to be a greater privacy protection for the customers.
The new feature has already started functioning in the United Arab Emirate and is likely to be introduced in other markets of the Careem that the company serves. A probable time of around 30 days will be required for introducing the feature within Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Careem’s customers will be provided with the choice of whether or not to put their phone numbers as private to their Careem drivers(also known as ‘Captain’).
When the call masking feature is used, the captain will only be able to receive an encrypted number in place of the customer’s real phone number, hence, keeping the data private.
The call number masking feature is the most recent safety feature by Careem that has beforehand incorporated facial recognition technology into the app. All these steps seem to be a part of efforts by the company for becoming the most trusted ride-hailing app in the region.
