Borgward Group’s GCC Distributors Appointed for BX7
The formerly defunct company Borgward Group AG that was recently resurrected with the assistance of the Foton Motor, the China-based truck maker has chosen and appointed its exclusive distributors across the GCC region.
In the UAE, the task has been given to the Union Motors LLC; in Kuwait, it will be handled by Al-Zayani Trading Company; while in Bahrain In Kuwait, it will be managed by the Yousif Awadi Group.
The Germany-based Borgward Group was initially found in the year 1919 and sold over a million vehicles back then. Some of their famous cars that became trendsetters are: the 1949 Borgward Hansa 1500, the 1954 Borgward Isabella and the 1959 Borgward P100.
Between 1950 to 1958, Borgward had an active involvement in the international racing circuits. The Hansa 1500 team has some remarkable achievements during the 24 Hours of Le Mans, La Carrera Panamericana, Nurburgring 1000km, and Autodrome de Montlhéry. They were involved in breaking at least 51 world records in the international racing arena.
After the original company had shut down operations in the year 1961; it was resurrected in 2008 by the grandson of Carl Borgward, Christian Borgward. He worked alongside partners, and the investment came from China, which helped revive the company. This has led to the BX7 crossover, the first Borgward’s car in the more than 50 years. The car was unveiled in the Germany at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Borgward Group’s headquarters is in Stuttgart, Germany, but the BX7 will be built exclusively in China.
