BMW Unveils Motorrad Concept Link in Italy
BMW unveiled its series 8 concept at the 2017 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Est in Italy, which is being touted as a means to breathe new life within the company’s existing design lines and promises to give stiff competition to the BMW’s arch rivals. But, it wasn’t only the series 8 that brought people to standstill and awe, with BMW’s another unrevealing taking a part of the cake too!
BMW has introduced its zero emissions electric bike, the Motorrad Concept Link.
The inspiration behind the Link seems to be the BMW’s Motorrad Vision Next 100 that was unveiled at the 2016 LA Auto Show.
The Link has been built keeping the urban core in mind and looks more like a scooter than a motorcycle due to its low slung power pack.
The Link has been built as a low height vehicle making it easy to climb aboard while the length of the bench seat can be adjusted for accommodating a pillion rider. The concept has a two tone colour scheme with swappable colour panels for creating a custom look. Some of the bike’s functions are dependent upon arm movement of the rider in the presence of a unique motion control jacket. The Link also lets selects music which seems suitable for the ride a person wants to take.
The Head of Vehicle Design of BMW Motorrad, Alexander Buckan was of the opinion that the use of flat energy packs in the underfloor and rear wheel compact drive would help create a new segment in the future.
