BMW Announces 8-series Revival for 2018
After a dry spell in its luxury flagship series, BMW has finally made a long overdue announcement of an 8-series model. The new temptation’s design from BMW will be showcased in Italy at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa D’Este in this month 2017.
A teaser was released on Thursday that shows a stylized silhouette of the concept which will be a coupe. The standard version will be a coupe while there will also be an eight series convertible and there are a few possibilities of a fastback sedan which will go by the name of 8 series Gran Coupe if built.
The announcement comes after BMW’s six series was taken out of production and the new eight series will replace the six series. It has been described as a true luxury sports coupe and a slice of pure automotive fascination by the BMW.
The platform for the series seems to be BMW’s CLAR design that has been Carbon Fiber infused. The use of this will lead to lower curb weight and compatibility with electrical powertrains.
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este will start on May 26 and is expected to bring in some heated competition for its rivals in the segment.
