BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo Crossover Joins BMW World
The 2018 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is the latest addition to the family of BMW coupe models. BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo will bid goodbye to the 5 Series Gran Turismo that it will replace.
A four door, crossover-style hatchback, the 2018 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo has a modern and sporty feel. This has been designed so as to the give the car, an eye-catching appeal.
Improvements in the new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo
The new GT has significant improvements in various departments and hasn’t neglected any of it.
Some of the major upgrades included in the car are the enhanced active aerodynamics at the car’s rear end, behind the front wheels and in the front grille. Additionally, the weight of the car has been optimised by the upping the high strength steel and aluminium content in the car’s body and chassis.
The 6 Series Gran Turismo packs tech savvy nature along with improved room in the interiors. The 6 GT has been equipped with a 10.25 inch HD display. The display will come with the BMW iDrive 6.0 infotainment system’s latest iteration. Featuring Apple CarPlay, the driver will be able to switch from Apple CarPlay and BMW by the use of touchscreen or the iDrive controller.
Also included in the new GT is the high definition head up display and gesture control technology of BMW.
Seating in the spacious rear cabin has been raised to improve the luxury and the driving pleasure.
The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo has Active Driving Assistant as a standard on all models; a feature that has come to BMW for the first time. The system contains a variety of driving assistant functions which are made functional due to the use of radars, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors, which monitor the GT’s surroundings. Some of the key features of the Active Driving Assistant are Active Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, and Daytime Pedestrian Protection among others. There is an optional Driving Assistant Plus Package available too.
The GT will have different powertrains, ranging from diesel to petrol versions; that have the TwinPower Turbo technology paired with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.
For petrol, there is the 2.0-liter four cylinder petrol engine and the 3.0-liter six cylinder engine depending on the variant chosen. The diesel engine is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder one which can be combined with an all-wheel drive as an option.
According to the company, GT can go from 0-100 kmph in around 5.1 seconds depending on the engine variant.
