BMW 2018 2-Series Updated; BMW M240i Launched
BMW has given the 2018 models of their entry level convertible/coupe, the 2-Series some upgrades and tweaks. The updates have been given to the entire range, from base models to the M2. A new model M240i M has also found itself in the ranks, to close the gap between the base model and the mighty M2.
Among the visual tweaks are the new standard bi-LED headlamps; while an optional adaptive full-LED can also be availed. Also, the angel lamps now have a hexagonal design as compared to the round one in the previous models. The M2 series will have a new sculpted front bumper along with more aggressive air intakes.
On the rear end, the LED tail lamps have also been updated.
For people who want more colors, three new color shades have been made a part of the palette. These are Sunset Orange, Mediterranian Blue, and Seaside Blue.
Considering the interiors, the instrument panel has modified air vents. The optional navigation system featuring an 8.8-inch display now has a touchscreen for controlling the options. The cars in the 2 series will support Apple CarPlay and WiFI hotspot for maximum ten devices. Keeping up with the technology, the vehicles have been provided with the induction charging tray for wireless charging.
There is no change in the engine department of the 2 series cars and will remain same for the year 2018.
The 230i’s 4 cylinder 2.0-liter turbo engine produces around 248 Horsepower. The series has Rear Wheel Drive Wheel as the standard option; while there is an optional xDrive all-wheel drive too. The gearbox configuration is either an 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual. The M2 has the configuration of 6-cylinder 3.0-liter engine that produces 365 Horsepower. The gear type provided is the automatic 7-speed dual clutch. The M2 borrows axles from the M3 and M4, along with suspension setups, sportier steering, and brakes.
BMW M240i M Variant
The new M240i M has visual and performance upgrades as a part of the new car in the series. It has been given an aggressive stance with its exteriors having a finish in Alpine White with Black Grill, Carbon-Fibre side skirts, and mirror caps. The car has 19-inch Orbit Gray alloy wheels. The twin exhaust tips, diffuser, and rear spoiler have been finished using Carbon-Fibre too.
The BMW M240i M has a revamped 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine churning out 340 Horsepower. The all wheel drive model will have automatic gear configuration, while the rest of gear choices are same as the base model, 230i.
The updated 2018 BMW 2 Series will hopefully arrive in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and other GCC countries by the first half of 2018.
