Bentley 2019 Continental GT Lives Upto its Name
Bentley is working to upgrade its third-generation Bentley 2019 Continental GT with a lot of performance and technology upgrades, so the much-beloved label isn’t lost in the celebrations that Bentayga utility vehicle is getting.
The redesigned model is more robust, aggressively styled and yet, lighter than its predecessor to attract the young and wealthy car buyers around the world.
MSB Platform and The Weight Decrease
The car has within it, the VW’s latest MSB platform that has been used for Porsche’s revamped Panamera sedan too. This difference in chassis and a newer aluminium body helps the Bentley 2019 Continental GT in shedding 80 kg as compared to the previous model.
Bentley had unveiled the third-gen model on Tuesday, long before the next month’s Frankfurt Auto Show.
Performance of the Bentley 2019 Continental GT
The car has a massive 6.0-liter turbocharged W12 engine(same as Bentayga). However, the car ends up making 626 horsepower, a grand increase from the 582 horsepower in the second generation model that was launched in 2011.
To derive the car’s power, an all-new active all-wheel-drive system has been used; although, the system focuses on the RWD as much as it can. This helps reduce the understeer, an issue common in AWD systems. Furthermore, even the transmission has been changed, with a new eight-speed dual clutch transmission that replaced the earlier transmission system.
The car even possesses an active air suspension.
The improved Bentley 2019 Continental GT can go from 0-100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of around 334 km/h, according to Bentley.
The sleek as ever coupe gets an aluminium body, which shares a lot of design cues from the conceptual EXP 10 Speed 6, which made its debut at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show. A set of headlight is more prominent now, while the pair that’s outwards has delved to become smaller supplemental units. Even the taillights have morphed into true ovals from soft rectangle earlier.
The more aggressive profile along with sharper lines in the body have resulted in the car looking less cumbersome and lighter than any predecessors.
Within the Continental GT, there’s a fully digital instrument cluster and a tricky, three-way rotating display on the dashboard. This optional feature is in the dashboard’s center and can rotate at the button’s touch. The three sides are a 12.3-inch high-resolution touch screen, nothing or a trio of analog gauges that have been embedded into the car’s wood veneers.
The third-gen Bentley 2019 Continental GT model will come to the US in 2018 as the 2019 model.
Details pertaining to pricing and fuel are expected to be released near the sale date.
