Audi E-Tron Sportback to be Launched in 2019
Audi will be building a fully electric family sportscar that will be unveiled in the year 2019. Recently, Volvo announced that its Polestar, the high-performance tuning brand will be churning out electric vehicles. Now the move by Audi will inspire other carmakers as well to tap the growing potential of the electric car market.
One of the visible additions to the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show, the Audi e-tron Sportback concept was one of the stars and will undergo design study to undergo the transformation for building Audi’s emissions-free performance car by 2019.
The auto show version, the Gran Turismo Coupé was shown to be capable of a mileage of 310 miles on a full charge. The car will have three electric motors, one each at the rear wheels and one on the front axle. The powerful 500 Horsepower performance can provide enough force to go from 0-100 kmph in 4.5 seconds.
Before the Audi E-Tron Sportback will go on sale, Audi will already have launched the e-tron electric SUV. The E-tron is likely to go into production in 2018 and will be built in Audi’s Belgian plant.
The e-tron Sportback concept has been described as a new model segment, with proportions of four-door coupé and application over the crossover segment.
