Aston Martin Building Mid-Engined Supercar Slated for 2020
British Luxury Sportscar manufacturer Aston Martin is looking to expand its exotic car range and is working on a mid-engined sports car. The mainstream mid-engined supercar will be competent enough to compete with other supercars like McLaren 720S, Ferrari 488, and Lamborghini Hurcán. The car idea was shared by the CEO, Aston Martin, Andy Palmer while discussing the company’s future plans.
The supercar will be in the same league as the 488 and will be launched in the year 2020. This is keeping in mind the plan of releasing new car models every year; starting from this year to 2023. Before this sports car, the rest of the lineup has been decided as, the remaining parts of the Aston new GT line, DBX crossover. While, after the car has been released, a pair of Aston Martin Lagonda models will come; followed by the DB12. The 2020 timeline seems to be at least a year early than was earlier anticipated, in the sub-Valkyrie mid-engined car.
There are some reasons why the decision might be beneficial for the company building a mid-engined car. Since the sports car is a segment standard, the weight distribution will be suitable. Also, right now there is a lot of gap between the Aston Martin’s Vanquish GT car and its Valkyrie; which can be fulfilled by this car.
