2018 Swift Sport: Suzuki’s Gift to Us
Japanese manufacturer Suzuki has just revealed its all-new 2018 Swift Sport at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Improved Engine and Newer Platform for the 2018 Swift Sport
The car has made use of the Suzuki’s Heartect platform, which also has been used in the new model of Ignis. The 2018 Swift Sport has underwent a lot of big changes, including its engine, with its old naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine being replaced by a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine. This has even led to savings of 80 kg, decreasing the total weight to 965 kg.
The car’s design has changed even more as compared to its predecessor model. With faux carbon fibre treatment to the side skirts, rear diffuser and spoiler, 17 inch wheels, dual exhaust tips and a gaping honeycomb grille.
The 2018 Swift Sport is wider by 40 mm than the previous model and is also 15 mm lower, with a floating roof and a blacked out A-Pillar.
The new 2018 Swift Sport will come with a six-speed short-shifting manual transmission. Also, the suspension has been made more stiff, stable and there’s added torsional rigidity.
Since the Swift Sport has always been amazing when it comes to handling, we expect the same from the latest model. However, Suzuki has further added on the car’s appeal by installing driver assistance kit with features like brake alert, advanced forward detection, lane departure warning system, and more.
Within the Suzuki 2018 Swift Sport are plenty of red accepts, with a squared off bottom of the steering wheel. The rest of the car has been decked out with satin finishes, contrasting red stitching and piano-black accents. For entertainment, there’s a a brand new 7-inch touchscreen that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
While the old engine too was good in what it did, the turbocharged 1.4-liter engine has a substantial improvement of 70 Nm, taking the total torque to 230 Nm.
The car is more efficient and and it’s being expected that the 2018 Swift Sport will have 0-100 km/h time of around eight seconds with a top speed of over 200 km/h.
