2018 Megane Renault Sport Promises Solid Performance For RWD
The 2018 Megane Renault Sport was just revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
With an odd enough name, that’s either quirky or perhaps stupid, with it being named back to front, the car is set to be the first hot hatchback featuring rear-wheel drive as it goes on sale in the middle of 2018.
Engine and the Power of the 2018 Megane Renault Sport
The 2018 Megane Renault Sport has a new 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine beneath its hood, giving the drivers a solid 280 horsepower performance, or 300 horsepower performance for those who choose the hardcore Trophy version.
Even more so, the car is rated to have 390 Nm Torque from 2,400-5,000 RPM. There’s a six-speed manual shift or an optionl dual cluth automatic shift with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel along with a launch control function.
Two Different Options
According to the French automaker’s tradition, Renault Sport will have two different chassis variants, Cup and Sport. The Cup has a limited slip differential include in it.
As Compared to its standard cars, the Renault Sport offerings will be easily distinguishable by its 60 mm wider bodywork as well as new 19 or 18-inch wheel designs along with a silver colored blade, that runs through the car’s front lower intake. Also a lip spoiler, sizeable rear diffuser to negate the aerodynamic lift at the car’s rear axle without adding any downforce, functional extractor vents that have been placed behind the car’s front wheels have all be been added.
Inside the 2018 Renault Megane Sport are sportier body-hugging seats, aluminum pedals and gear lever and of course the magnificent contrasting red stitching. You can even get the optional Alcantara upholestery, if leather’s your wish.
No Report on Performance Numbers Yet
Although, we have been wanting to know ourselves about the 0-100 km/h speed and the max this hot hatch can go, we still can only make a guesswork considering that Renault hasn’t released any information. But if it looks to match up to Ford Focus RS and Honda Civic Type R, it better have around 250 km/h top speed with a 6 seconds 0-100 km/h mark.
